Retail, the final frontier. These are the voyages of leaders we love. To boldy go where no man or woman has gone before, ignoring all sane counsel, working long hours for often little profit, making quality goods and not selling out.

SO let us explain. At first we were going to call this column our Freak of the Week, but realized that people wouldn’t get it According to the dictionary a freak is someone who is so ardently devoted to something that it resembles an addiction.

While we don’t believe those we are honoring in these pages are actual addicts, we do believe that their vision has withstood many tests, challenges and times when they wondered, likely late at night, or perhaps after receiving a distributor out-of-stock report, “Why the $%&# hell was I so stupid to start this damn company, anyway?”

And one other thing — these ARE NOT PAID endorsements. They come from our heart and to be honest, they also come from some of our resignation, too.

You see, once upon a time we had ideas for new products and dreams of opening our own stores and launching movements too. And maybe the fact that we never followed through with them is why we are so inspired by this people we call freaks or geek and why we love them so much.
