The Pew Research Center recently announced the major conclusion’s from its just published cross-cultural, demographic hagio-analytic report: Last of the Boomers, What Went Wrong?
Among the studies most surprising findings is the conclusion that four leading macro-cultural events can be identified as primary factors in “creating the generation that has wrought economic and spiritual malaise like a cover of smog and acid rain over the American dream.”
These four factors, presented with equal causative weight, are according to Pew:
- The discovery that stars on Hollywood Squares were actually prompted before the show about the questions they would receive and their hysterical, seemingly off-the-cuff replies were in fact well rehearsed.
- The introduction of the Princess Phone which freed people talking on the phone from being rendered nearly stationary by large rotary dial or wall mounted devices.
- The cruel discovery that unlike the early promises of this technological revolution, CD’s do scratch nearly as easily as LP albums.
- Their growing love for falafel, hummus and baba gannoush that occurred around the same time as the September 11 bombings.
I remember vividly being devastated when I learned it wasnt improvised. Of all the cruel things to do to a child. Next thing they’ll tell me is Laverne and Shirley werent real people. At least that show wasnt made up.
