When NBN first heard the news that Alexa Ray Joel, daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley overdosed on Traumeel, a homeopathic remedy, we laughed. Not at the story of a depressed child of celebrity, but at the supposed cause of the hospitalization. Overdosing on a homeopathic medicine is impossible.
It is about as likely as buying the Brooklyn Bridge from some guy named Marty or Ivanka Trump shopping at Wal-Mart. In other words it just isn’t going to happen.
Heel, the German manufacturer has issued a statement in response to the news reports to the detailing why Traumeel couldn’t have caused the overdose.
While NY Newsday, MTV, and and others are reporting that the despondent Joel was indeed close to erasing the mortal coil with homeopathic medicine, The New York Daily News reported yesterday that overdosing on Traumeel is virtually impossible .
At the risk of seeming callous it’s lucky for the industry that the supposed victim of the overdosing is on the celebrity radar. In other words we can be sure that the real story will come out as the pop culture vultures swoop down on the story in search of what really happened. Good news for the industry, bad news for Alexa Ray Joel.
