As part of the green trend we see lots of products come on our way, and until we get our new product review section set up, most don’t merit attention for our regular news. Once we get our product review section up we’re sure a lot of them will merit negative attention, but c’est la vie.
Yet this new basketball from Wilson, landed in our story box with a swish. The product made from 40% pre-consumer recycled rubber and in a box produced from nearly 80% pre or post consumer board. The Rebound has a unique green and black color palette and features the slogan “Think Globally, Hoop Locally.” It retails for $14.99 and became available in stores across the country last month.
For too long manufacturers have been either unwilling or just too uninspired to create products using recycled material. What we love most about this basketball is that it combines smart marketing and creativity while reducing the amount of garbage headed to the landfill.
Now if only someone could do something about those New York Knicks, we’d really be happy.
Oh yeah and to the engineers at Wilson, how about seeing if post-consumer rubber would work. We know a lot of junkyards in our old home in Northeastern, Pennsylvania that would be happy to provide you with a few tons.
