Mother Jones details the previously mysterious Senator who added a rider to unrelated legislation protecting Monsanto and the few other GMO seed companies. The rider, which was a surprise last minute addition to a bill unrelated to agriculture or GMO oversight mandates that the USDA “ignore federal court decisions that block the agency’s approvals of new GM crops.”
This according to Mother Jone’s is consistent with Blunt’s political career where pay to play is all part of the game. “The senator’s blunt, so to speak, admission that he stuck a rider into an unrelated bill at the behest of a major campaign donor is consistent with the tenor of his political career.”
In an age where politicians are viewed with nearly as much disdain as Tony Soprano’s thugs (minus the murders), this story still managed to leave a bad taste in NBN’s mouth. Ugggh.
