Hershey Expands Its Reach, Acuqires Dagoba

We love Dagoba founder Frederick Schilling and his chocolates are NBN’s favorites. So news that Hershey has added his terrific line to its stable mad us glad for Schilling but worried a bit about quality. Hershey bought Joseph Schmidt and another of our favorites, Scharffen Berger earlier this year.

In a press release Schilling lauded Hershey and stated that “Hershey’s deep commitment to quality and sustainability throughout its supply chain will help Dagoba improve and expand its mission of improving cacao farmers’ livelihoods and expanding organic farming methods.”

Let’s hope he is right. Rumors that a new line called ScharffenGoba have not been confirmed.

In addition to it’s expansion through acquisition, Hershey recently launched two larger sized versions of its Special Dark chocolate, an item previously limited to inclusion in the company’s bag of miniature sized items.
