Former USDA, Hershey Exec, To Head Organic Trade Association

The Organic Trade Association announced last week that Caren Wilcox, former director of Governmental Relations for Hershey Foods, will replace Kathleen DiMatteo, who announced her resignation last year.

Wilcox joined Hershey after serving as Under Secretary for Food Safety at the U.S.D.A. In addition, as noted in the OTA website, Wilcox recently served as a senior adviser to a ranking member of an agricultural related subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee, “where she worked on such issues as sustainability, food security, specialty crops, and water and energy.”

While NBN has always regretted the so- called ‘bureaucratic triangle’ (the process by which goverment bigwigs move to corporate positions to lobbying and back and forth, and in most cases, ‘greasing the wheels’ as they go,) we’re happy to have this network on our side.

In other words, NBN believes Wilcox’ numerous roles in the executive and legislative and corporate world, brings new prowess and insider status to the 20 year old OTA.Former USDA, Hershey Exec, To Head Organic Trade Association.
